What it is

Kiddyland is Harajuku's landmark character-goods department store, on Omotesando since 1950 — five floors (B1–4F) of officially licensed toys, stationery, plush and exclusive collabs, and one of the most-visited stops for both first-time and repeat Japan shoppers. Unlike a single-character shop, it's a rotating mix of Japan's biggest character brands under one roof, refreshed constantly with pop-ups.

Floor guide (checked against the official floor guide on 2026-10-03)

  • B1F — Snoopy Town Shop, a dedicated Peanuts/Snoopy specialty floor.
  • 1F — Chiikawa Land (ちいかわらんど). As of an October 2025 renovation, the entire ground floor became the official Chiikawa shop (it previously shared the floor with other trend-goods corners); expect the newest releases, limited items and pre-release stock. The official floor guide (May 2026 edition) shows the whole floor as Chiikawa Land.
  • 2F — Disney and the "Maruko to Kojikoji Store" (Chibi Maruko-chan and Coji-Coji), plus Studio Ghibli, Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan and other character lines.
  • 3F — Kirby's Pupupu Market, general toys and Sonny Angel (listed on 3F in the official floor guide).
  • 4F — Rilakkuma Store, Sumikko Gurashi Shop and Sanrio characters (Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll). Miffy Style is no longer here: it closed on 30 March 2026 and reopened on 24 April 2026 on the 4th floor of Omotesando's Omokado building (4-30-3 Jingumae).

A note on Sonny Angel: the official floor guide (May 2026 edition) lists Sonny Angel among the 3F brands, not on 1F. Stock and pop-ups change often, so if Sonny Angel is your main reason to visit, check the store's official X account (@h_kiddyland) before you go.

Tax-free shopping

Kiddyland Harajuku is a Japan Tax Free Shop, with multilingual signage (English, Korean, simplified & traditional Chinese). Purchases of ¥5,000 or more (before tax), paid in one transaction, qualify — show your original passport at the register; tax-free items can't be returned or exchanged.

Practical info

  • Hours: posted as 11:00–20:00 on the official site; some third-party listings cite a later close on weekends, so confirm on kiddyland.co.jp before a special trip, as hours can change without notice.
  • Access: on Omotesando — Meiji-Jingumae Station (Tokyo Metro), about 2 min walk; Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) and Omotesando Station (Ginza Line and others), both roughly 5–8 min walk.
  • Payment: cash and major credit cards accepted.
  • Crowds: weekends and any Chiikawa/Sonny Angel restock day get busy fast — a weekday morning is the calmest time to browse all five floors properly.
