What it is

Den Den Town is Osaka's Akihabara, and Mandarake Grand Chaos is its single biggest second-hand otaku emporium. The chain is the country's best-known dealer in used and vintage collectibles, and this Osaka flagship packs a building of vintage toys, sofubi and robots, figures, used manga, art books, trading cards, cosplay and a strong doujinshi section.

Floors are organized by genre, so the fun is in hunting — rare back-catalogue, out-of-print volumes and pieces you won't find new. Prices reflect collector value, and Mandarake runs an established overseas mail-order operation. Grand Chaos is the must-visit 'dig' of Den Den Town, right next to Joshin Super Kids Land near Ebisucho Station.
