What it is
Mandarake Nakano is the birthplace of the world-famous secondhand otaku chain. Rather than a single store, it's a constellation of genre-specialized shops scattered across the floors of Nakano Broadway — main stores, a card shop, a cel/photo shop, a cosplay shop, doll specialists, an anime shop and many numbered 'Special' shops.
For a collector it's the definitive destination for vintage manga, rare figures and sofubi, cels, idol and tokusatsu goods, dolls and out-of-print collectibles, much of it graded and priced for serious buyers. The Nakano shops are open 12:00–20:00 year-round (buyback counters close 19:30), and Mandarake runs an English online order site for overseas purchases.
