What it is
The Gundam Base Tokyo is the official flagship facility for Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits), run by Bandai on the 7th floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba. It carries the widest range of kits anywhere — from entry-grade to Perfect Grade — alongside store-exclusive and limited kits, paint and tools, display galleries, and build/workshop zones where fans assemble kits on-site.
Outside the mall on the festival plaza stands the life-size RX-0 Unicorn Gundam statue (~19.7 m), which at set times each day 'transforms' between Unicorn and an illuminated Destroy Mode, with after-dark projection-mapping shows. Note: the life-size Unicorn statue has been announced for removal at the end of August 2026 — confirm its status if visiting near that date (the store itself remains). Hours follow DiverCity and differ weekday/weekend, so check the official site. Tax-free available.
