What it is
The Gundam Base Tokyo is the official flagship facility for Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits), run by Bandai on the 7th floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba. It carries the widest range of kits anywhere — from entry-grade to Perfect Grade — alongside store-exclusive and limited kits, paint and tools, display galleries, and build/workshop zones where fans assemble kits on-site.
The life-size Unicorn Gundam statue outside ended its display on 31 August 2026; the store itself stays open. Hours follow DiverCity Tokyo Plaza — 10:00–21:00 on the official site as of 18 September 2026 — and entry can be limited by numbered tickets on crowded days, so check before you go. Tax-free is handled at the mall's counter, not the 7F till: DiverCity's own tax-free shop list (dated 1 November 2025, checked 18 September 2026) puts THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO under the 2F tax-free counter in the Tourist Information, for ¥5,500–550,000 including tax in one store on one day, with your passport.
