The ones that need advance booking are the Animate Cafe sit-down collabs running now (REBORN!, IDOLiSH7, A3! — lottery reservation; for Hetalia from Oct 8, check its event page), Mob Psycho 100 III in Akihabara and Katamari Damacy at NeCoLabo Cafe (reservation-only, no walk-ins), and the Yu-Gi-Oh! café opening Oct 23 in Ikebukuro (reservation-only every day). Chainsaw Man, Fallout and the Sweets Paradise-run collabs take reservations and may seat you on the day if seats are free; Capcom Cafe takes online bookings. For big names, book.

Reservation-only: booking through the official site needs a credit card, the lead guest must show original photo ID (a passport works), there's no waiting list or numbered tickets, and cosplay isn't allowed. Advance reservation costs ¥660 (card payment, until 15:00 the day before) and gets you priority entry plus a two-postcard set. ID check at the door: one photo ID, or two non-photo official documents. ⚠️ If your passport doesn't show your current address — most foreign passports don't — you must also bring an official document showing your name, current address and date of birth; without it you can be refused entry and the ¥660 is not refunded. How collab cafés work

A collab café is a regular café that takes on one anime or game for a few weeks: themed menu, character décor, and novelties (tokuten) — usually a random coaster or card for each collab item you order. Novelties are usually random (NeCoLabo, for example, hands out a random coaster per collab item). Seatings are timed (75–90 minutes is common), you order once or at the start, and most cafés ask for at least one item per person. Take-out "stands" (Animate Cafe Stand, DECOTTO) have no seats — you order, collect your novelty and go, which makes them the easiest option without a booking.

How to book as a visitor

• Animate Cafe: you need a reservation-site account (log in with Club Animate or LINE). Enter the lottery during the application window, or grab a cancellation through "vacant seat" booking once the lottery closes. The person who booked must come, with the booking number and photo ID showing their full name — a passport is accepted. How to book
• Collabo Cafe Honpo: book online with a credit card; the lead guest shows original photo ID; no walk-ins.
• BOX cafe&space (Chainsaw Man): book through the café's reservation page with a card. Bring one photo ID (or two non-photo official documents) — and if your passport has no address on it, an extra official document with your name, current address and date of birth, or you risk being turned away without a refund.
• Sweets Paradise / DISH UP / COLLABO PARADISE / S-PiCK CAFE: book only through the Sweets Paradise app, from 5 weeks ahead until 20:00 the day before (one booking per account at a time). On the day, phone the café to ask about free seats.
• TOWER RECORDS CAFE: Ticket Pia e-tickets (see Fallout above); same-day tickets if seats remain — check the café's X account that morning.
• NeCoLabo Cafe: web booking only, in your own name.

Booking pages are Japanese-first; a browser translation tool is enough to get through them. If a lottery beats you, the take-out stands and cafés that accept same-day seats are your fallback.

Novelty and goods etiquette

• No trading inside or outside the café during your seating. TOWER RECORDS CAFE, Sweets Paradise and Collabo Cafe Honpo all say so explicitly — swap novelties later, elsewhere.
• Goods limits are real: at Sweets Paradise cafés you can only buy collab goods if you ordered from the collab menu; at TOWER RECORDS CAFE it's one goods purchase per person, in seat-number order.
• Don't open blind items to "search" before you buy, and don't re-queue to buy again.
• Photos: shoot your food and décor, but keep other guests unidentifiable if you post online; Sweets Paradise bans video filming inside.
• Dress: Collabo Cafe Honpo turns away cosplay and outfits that bother other guests.
• Be on time: late arrivals don't get extra time, and TOWER RECORDS CAFE cancels bookings 30 minutes after the start.
