The statue took over the plaza in September 2017 from the earlier full-size RX-78-2 Gundam, and for almost nine years it was one of Tokyo's most-photographed free sights. The official statue site now states that the exhibition concluded on Monday, 31 August 2026 (unicorn-gundam-statue.jp), and AV Watch reported the final ceremony held on 29 August (AV Watch, 31 August 2026).
What the shows were (2017–2026)
While it stood, the statue shifted between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode at set times each day — the last daytime slots we listed were 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00 — and a "WALL-G" video and lighting show ran on the DiverCity façade roughly every 30 minutes from 19:00 to 21:30. These shows no longer run, so guides and maps that still print the timetable are out of date.
Where to see Gundam now
- The Gundam Base Tokyo — Bandai's official gunpla store on DiverCity Tokyo Plaza 7F is separate from the statue and is still open: 10:00–21:00, following the mall's hours, per gundam-base.net on 18 September 2026. On crowded days entry can be limited by numbered tickets.
- Life-size ν Gundam, Fukuoka — the RX-93ff ν Gundam at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Fukuoka is still on display; check its current show times on the official site.
- A future "Gundam Landmark" — Bandai Namco has floated a plan for new Gundam facilities, reported as aimed at 2029, but its location, format and opening date have not been disclosed, so it cannot yet be called a successor to the Odaiba statue (Zaikei, 1 September 2026).
