Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2026 (Tokyo): Dates, Venue & Can You Watch In Person?

The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2026 comes to Tokyo, August 28-30, with the finals at Tokyo Garden Theater on August 30 — but if you're an overseas fan, the honest answer is you can't buy a seat to watch it in person.

What's happening, and when

Konami's official event pages confirm a three-day competition across four formats — the physical Trading Card Game, Duel Links (Speed Duel format), Duel Links (Rush Duel format) and Master Duel:

• August 28 — TCG Swiss rounds, Duel Links 1st-stage matches, and the Master Duel 1st stage and semifinals, in Ariake, Tokyo. (Konami's official page doesn't itemize a start time for this day as of writing.)
• August 30 (Sunday) — the finals: the TCG Championship Match and the Master Duel Finals, at Tokyo Garden Theater, Ariake. Doors open at 12:00, the show starts at 13:00, and it wraps by around 19:00 JST.

This is the top event of Konami's 2025-26 competitive season, and it's Japan's turn to host after the previous two editions were held in North America and Europe.

Can I watch in person? The honest answer

Spectator seats for the finals were never a normal ticket purchase. Konami ran a free lottery — a general slot open June 8-21, 2026 via the Yu-Gi-Oh Neuron app, and a smaller points-priority slot for competitive players open June 8-14 via Konami Style — but eligibility was explicitly restricted to residents of Japan. Overseas fans could never apply, regardless of when they found out about it. The application window is now closed anyway.

If you weren't a Japan-resident applicant, in-person spectating simply isn't on the table — there's no walk-up ticket, no paid public admission, and no separate overseas allocation. What you can do is watch: Konami has confirmed the World Championship is livestreamed globally, so the finals are accessible from anywhere.

Getting there (competitors and credentialed attendees)

Tokyo Garden Theater is at 2-1-6 Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo 135-0063 — about a 4-minute walk from Ariake Station (Yurikamome Line) or 7 minutes from Kokusai-Tenjijo Station (Rinkai Line).

What overseas Yu-Gi-Oh fans CAN do in Tokyo that week

One thing worth knowing before you buy or trade: Japan plays the Japanese-language OCG ruleset, which has a different card pool and banlist from the international TCG most overseas players are used to — cards bought here generally aren't tournament-legal back home under TCG rules.
