All four Pokémon Centers in Tokyo are open: Mega Tokyo in Ikebukuro reopened on 24 August 2026, joining Tokyo DX, Shibuya and Skytree Town. Official hours, tax-free status by store, and exactly how foreign visitors book the reservation-only Pokémon Café online.

The short answer
All four Pokémon Centers in Tokyo are open: Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo in Ikebukuro reopened on 24 August 2026, joining Tokyo DX, Shibuya and Skytree Town.
Tokyo has four Pokémon Centers plus one reservation-only Pokémon Café. As of 24 September 2026, the official shop pages list daily opening hours for all four stores and carry no closure notices. Pokémon Center Tokyo DX in Nihonbashi is on the same floor as the Café; Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo in Ikebukuro is back after a temporary closure that began on 26 March 2026; Shibuya is on PARCO 6F, the same floor as Nintendo TOKYO; and Skytree Town is inside Tokyo Solamachi. The Café reopened after renovation on 17 June 2026 and takes online reservations only, opened a month at a time. Below is where each store is, its hours, which ones confirm tax-free, and exactly how a foreign visitor books the Café.
| Store | Where | Hours (official) | Tax-free |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tokyo DX | Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building 5F (Nihonbashi) | 10:30–21:00 daily | Yes, handled in-store |
| Mega Tokyo | Sunshine City alpa 2F (Ikebukuro) | 10:00–20:00 daily | Not on the building's tax-free list; ask in store |
| Shibuya | Shibuya PARCO 6F | 10:00–21:00 daily | Yes |
| Skytree Town | Tokyo Solamachi East Yard 4F | 10:00–21:00 daily | Yes |
Hours and tax-free status were checked on the official store and building pages on 24 September 2026. Hours can change, so check the store page on the day you go.
The four Pokémon Centers, by neighbourhood
Tokyo DX — Nihonbashi (next to the Café)
Pokémon Center Tokyo DX is on 5F of the Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. East Building (2-11-2 Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku), open 10:30–21:00 daily. Exit B2 of Nihonbashi Station (Tokyo Metro Ginza and Tozai lines) connects directly; it is also a 5-minute walk from the Yaesu North Exit of JR Tokyo Station and a 4-minute walk from Nihonbashi Station on the Toei Asakusa Line. Pokémon Cafe TOKYO is on the same East Building 5F, so this is the store to pair with a Café booking.
Mega Tokyo — Ikebukuro (reopened 24 August 2026)
Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo is in Sunshine City (alpa 2F), about a 3-minute walk from Higashi-Ikebukuro Station (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line) and about 8 minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station. The store and Pikachu Sweets by Pokémon Cafe, on the same floor, closed temporarily after an incident at the store on 26 March 2026. The Pokémon Company said it would partially renovate the store and strengthen safety measures for staff before reopening, and on 27 July it announced that both would reopen on Monday 24 August 2026; the store's own notice confirmed the reopening. The official shop page now lists 10:00–20:00 daily. Pikachu Sweets is a takeout sweets shop that needs no reservation and also lists 10:00–20:00. The official FAQ says any Center may hand out numbered tickets or limit entry when it is crowded, so check the store's News page before a big release day.
Shibuya — PARCO 6F (Nintendo on the same floor)
Pokémon Center Shibuya is on 6F of Shibuya PARCO, open 10:00–21:00, about a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station. The cover photo at the top of this page shows its entrance, with a Mewtwo figure in a glowing capsule (photographed in October 2022). PARCO's 6F floor guide also lists Nintendo TOKYO and CAPCOM STORE TOKYO, so Shibuya PARCO 6F works as a one-stop "Nintendo + Pokémon" visit.
Skytree Town — Solamachi
Pokémon Center Skytree Town is in Tokyo Solamachi (East Yard 4F) at the foot of Tokyo Skytree, open 10:00–21:00. It is right by the main exit of Tokyo Skytree Station (Tobu Skytree Line) and close to exits B3 and A2 of Oshiage Station, so it folds easily into a Skytree visit.
(Bonus: Pokémon Store Tokyo Station Shop is part of Tokyo Character Street in First Avenue Tokyo Station; the shop is on 1F, open 10:00–20:30 and about a minute's walk from the station's Nihombashi Exit. It's handy for a quick souvenir grab between trains.)
The Pokémon Café (Nihonbashi): reservation required
This is the part to plan ahead. Pokémon Cafe TOKYO reopened after renovation on 17 June 2026, and seats are by advance online reservation. Book on the official reservation site, reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp; the Café's official website has a full English version. Phone and email bookings are not accepted.
How booking works (official site and FAQ, checked 24 September 2026):
- Dates open a month at a time, at 18:00 Japan time. October 2026 dates opened on 1 September; all November 2026 dates open at 18:00 on Thursday 1 October 2026. Dates from 1 December 2026 will be announced later on the Café's NEWS page.
- Deadline: book by 08:00 on the day of your visit.
- Don't plan on walking in: the official FAQ says seats are offered at the store only when there are same-day cancellations.
- One email, one booking. You can't hold more than one booking with the same email address, and groups of 7 or more must split into several bookings.
- On the day: be in front of the Café at least 15 minutes before your time (10 minutes for the 10:40 slot). If 10 minutes pass after your start time without contact, the booking is cancelled automatically.
- Seating time: 90 minutes from your reservation time; last order is 30 minutes before the end.
- Cancelling: online until 22:00 the day before; on the day itself, phone the Café.
- Hours: 10:30–21:00; the last reserved seating is the 19:30 slot and last orders are at 20:30.
- No resale or proxy bookings: the reservation site prohibits them and may void such bookings.
- Goods: Café merchandise can be bought without a reservation.
Pokémon TCG: where to buy and play
Pokémon Centers sell Pokémon Trading Card Game products, but the most sought-after releases can be lottery-only. From 24 to 30 September 2026, all four Tokyo Centers are selling the "30th CELEBRATION" expansion packs only to winners of an advance lottery (applications ran 16–20 September; up to 10 packs per person), with no general sale in that period. Check each store's News page before a release. For singles, deck-building and actually playing — leagues, tournaments and trades — head to the card shops in where to play TCG in Tokyo. If you're in Akihabara anyway, Yodobashi Akiba, which its official site lists as a tax-free shop, is another big-store stop.
Tax-free, payment, English & shipping (the kindness layer)
- Tax-free: Three of the four Centers are confirmed as tax-free on their buildings' official lists: Tokyo DX (Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. marks it as handling tax-free in-store), Shibuya (on Shibuya PARCO's TAX FREE shop list) and Skytree Town (on Tokyo Skytree Town's tax-free shop list). Mega Tokyo does not appear on Sunshine City's tax-free shop list dated August 2026, so ask at the register before you count on it. Tax-free applies to purchases of ¥5,000 or more (tax-excluded) in one store in one day. From 1 November 2026 Japan moves to a refund system: you pay the tax-inclusive price in the shop, then show your passport at a customs kiosk at the airport or seaport when you leave Japan (within 90 days of purchase), and the tax is refunded once customs confirms you are taking the goods out. Full rules are in the Japan tax-free shopping guide.
- Payment: The official Pokémon Center FAQ says the stores accept credit cards, code (QR) payments and transit IC cards, with accepted brands varying by store. Pokémon Cafe TOKYO takes VISA, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover and UnionPay credit cards.
- English: The Pokémon Center and Pokémon Cafe official websites both have English versions, and the Café offers menus in English, Simplified Chinese and Korean.
- Buying too much? If your haul won't fit your suitcase, read how to ship figures and goods home from Japan before you over-pack.

FAQ
- Is Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo in Ikebukuro open again?
- Yes. The Pokémon Company announced that Mega Tokyo and Pikachu Sweets would reopen on 24 August 2026 after a temporary closure that began on 26 March 2026, and the store's own notice confirmed it. As of 24 September 2026 the official shop page lists 10:00–20:00 daily.
- Which Pokémon Centers in Tokyo are open right now?
- All four. As of 24 September 2026 the official shop pages list daily hours for Tokyo DX (Nihonbashi, 10:30–21:00), Mega Tokyo (Ikebukuro, 10:00–20:00), Shibuya (PARCO 6F, 10:00–21:00) and Skytree Town (Tokyo Solamachi, 10:00–21:00). Hours can change, so check the store page on the day.
- How do I book the Pokémon Café in Tokyo as a foreigner?
- Online only, on the official reservation site reserve.pokemon-cafe.jp (the Café's website has an English version); phone and email bookings are not accepted. Dates open a month at a time at 18:00 Japan time (all November 2026 dates open at 18:00 on 1 October 2026), and you must book by 08:00 on the day. One email address can hold only one booking.
- Are Pokémon Centers tax-free for tourists?
- Tokyo DX, Shibuya and Skytree Town are confirmed as tax-free on their buildings' official lists. Mega Tokyo is not on Sunshine City's August 2026 tax-free list, so ask at the register. The minimum is ¥5,000 (tax-excluded) in one store in one day. From 1 November 2026 you pay the tax-inclusive price and get the tax refunded after showing your passport at a customs kiosk when you leave Japan.
- Which Tokyo store is the best or biggest?
- The official store pages we checked don't give floor areas, so we don't rank the stores by size. Choose by plan: Tokyo DX shares 5F with the Pokémon Café, Mega Tokyo has Pikachu Sweets on the same floor, Shibuya shares PARCO 6F with Nintendo TOKYO, and Skytree Town is easy to combine with Tokyo Skytree.
- Can I just walk into the Pokémon Café without a reservation?
- Don't count on it. The Café runs on advance reservations, and its official FAQ says seats are offered at the store only when there are same-day cancellations. Book online and be in front of the Café at least 15 minutes before your time (10 minutes for the 10:40 slot). Café goods can be bought without a reservation.
